The MethodEx Toolbox
The MethodEx Toolbox contains a number of tools designed to assist in the calculation of external costs of human activities. Several of these tools have been developed in Excel, though there are links to tools on other websites. The Excel tools are as follows:

BeTa-MethodEx giving look-up tables for damage costs per tonne of emission for regional and global air pollutants, including trace metals and some organics.

European electricity externalities – a spreadsheet generating estimates of external costs per unit electricity generation in the European Union, based on 2003 generation data.

Currency converter, including currency, year and PPP conversions developed by Harry Walton at the University of Bath.

Emissions calculator, permitting quantification of the effect of different fuels, generation technologies and abatement techniques on emission levels for heat and power plant.

Accounting frameworks to assist in the comprehensive description of external costs from power generation technologies.
